A brief biography of the artist.
Keith Reilly was born in Belfast in 1962 and studied art at Ulster Polytechnic. However, before completing the course, his first set of limited edition prints depicting the alleyways and personality of his home City had achieved commercial success. Over the following few years, many major works in oils and water colours were completed as well as further publications of scenes both large and small concentrating on revealing the finery of Irish post Victorian architecture and recapturing the vibrancy and spirit of this City not yet content to die. However, in search of international acclaim, or as he puts it: "just in search", he moved to live in the Netherlands which he still regards today as the Mecca of art in the modern era. Inspired by the picturesque towns and cities of Holland, over 20 pen and ink drawings were published in limited editions. The Dutch loved his art, and all were sold out within months of publication. However, the mobility of artistic talent and diverse applications inspired the young artist and he moved to Australia. Here, capturing the cultural diversity of the Australian people, more works were released for publication each with a more exacting attention to detail and quality of expression. He now lives in the south of England and has spent many successful years working in oils depicting the towns, cities countryside and landscape of his adopted home. However, his true style still lies in the fineness and quality of detail of his pen and ink drawings, which combined with watercolour highlights make the Reilly trademark so readily identifiable.
